About Peter Deans

During Peter's career he worked for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia Group (Commonwealth Bank), the Industrial Bank of Japan, Australia & New Zealand Banking Group and National Mutual Royal Bank.

Peter held a number of senior Risk Management roles in the Commonwealth Bank's commercial and institutional banking businesses between 1999 and 2010. In December 2008, following the acquisition of Bankwest by Commonwealth Bank, Peter was appointed Chief Risk Officer of Bankwest.

Peter was part of the executive team responsible for the overseeing the development and implementation of a major strategic review of Bankwest in 2009, encompassing integration of various functions into the Commonwealth Bank Group, implementation a new Risk Management Board Governance framework, and relaunch of the Bankwest in both the retail and business banking segments.

Peter also implemented an overhaul of the Risk Management functions within Bankwest, including the establishment of a new business credit division, development and implementation of new lending policies / guidelines and establishment of a new work out / higher risk credits group. Peter also rolled out a major client engagement / sales program for the Risk Management functions in Bankwest Business.
Peter's expertise and experience covers property, industrial, natural resources and energy & power sectors.

Peter is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Turnaround Management Association.

Peter is also Co-Founder and Director of the finance and credit training business, AG Financial Education.
